1880s Devils Claws Quilt

This 1880s Devils Claws quilt also goes by the names, Idaho Beauty, Corner Star, Cross Plains, Bright Stars and The Crowfoot.
We felt that with this colorway— Devils Claws seemed most fitting.
The ever coveted red and white is a must for any collection and with the immense amount of intricate quilting, despite its flaws, this one is a stunner.


D E T A I L S

How it’s made: hand quilted and hand pieced

Weight: light weight and quite soft

Measurements laid flat: 71” x 79”

C O N D I T I O N
Wear throughout with discoloration. The binding, which has been added in a more recent decade, has started to come undone in one or two spots. It appears at one time this quilt would have been slightly larger as the blocks are offset and a border is possibly missing. Two blocks have faded due to the nature of how it was stored and there is a small imperfection in one of the blocks where the pattern was sewn in the wrong direction.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
