1880s Virginia's Choice Crib Quilt

$558.00

Doll quilts and crib quilts are highly covetable and collected for their accessible size.
Hang on the wall, use over the back of a couch, use in a tablescape, frame, or fold artfully on a shelf.

This one is especially spectacular with its unusual neutral color way.

Two whole and two half pattern blocks having outline quilting, applied tan fabric binding, two-paneled print fabric backing with later-applied Velcro along one edge for hanging. Possibly Virginian in origin. Fourth quarter of the 19th century.

Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA.

Strip of velcro goes all the way across one side, for previous hanging method. Can be removed if desired.

How it’s made: Hand pieced and hand quilted

Weight: Light

Measurements laid flat: 40” x 30”

If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

A truly beautiful crib quilt, with remarkable colors. Overall fading and several 1” spots of discoloration across the back of the quilt. A few pinholes across the quilt, exposing the batting. One pinhole that goes all the way through.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
