1910s Americana Patchwork Quilt

$398.00
sold out

A gorgeous Americana quilt if we ever saw one. It also has a quilt inside of a quilt. Years ago, it was custom to use worn out quilts as batting for new quilts. A beautiful testament to nothing going to waste. Homespun backing and the lovely array of calicos adds to the intrigue of this quilt.

Two prominent places where patchwork has worn away to reveal the quilt inside and a a few other small spots of wear here and there. One border edge is thinner where the inside quilt doesn’t come all the way to the edge as the new quilt was made larger than it’s repurposed batting it seems. Some slight fading along one edge of the border. Spots of discoloration throughout and one tiny spot of white paint but otherwise no major issues to note.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
