1890s Sunflower Appliqué Quilt
Circa 1880s-1890s, this appliqué quilt is in a beautiful and never before seen (by us anyway!) sunflower pattern. With sunflowers in two different cheddar cottons, and the borders and leaves in lovely vegetable dyed greens, some of which have faded over time rendering a beautiful overall subtle look.
A truly lovely and one of a kind quilt to help transition and brighten up your home for the coming spring. Definitely for a flower lover!
D E T A I L S
How it’s made: Hand quilted and hand appliquéd
Weight: Light
Measurements laid flat: 73” x 77”
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!
C O N D I T I O N
In overall very sturdy, lovely and usable condition, with the only flaws really being that there is some bleeding around the lighter yellow flowers that is hard to notice in most light, but can be seen more prominently on the back of the quilt.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
