1890s Broken Wheel Quilt

This 1890s Broken Wheel quilt has an array of beautiful calicos. Beautifully quilted with tiny precise stitches, this would look absolutely stunning on a bed!

It’s always so wonderful to see the variety of fabrics used in a quilt and this is certainly one to study and admire in that regard.

C O N D I T I O N

Spots of discoloration throughout that are mostly concentrated around the black fabrics which means that the quilt was at one time improperly washed and they may have bled to the surrounding lighter calicos. More subtle than it sounds. There is one edge that is slightly imperfect in shape but overall no major signs of wear or holes to note.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
