1890s Bandana Quilt
This quilt is truly a once in a lifetime find.
We have come across other bandana quilts in passing over the years, but they’ve never been made from bananas older than the 1970s nor had as beautiful of a presentation.
The first piece available from the Wild West collection is arguably one of our favorites and one we’ve had in our archive for a couple years now.
An incredible one of a kind 1890s-1900s quilt, the backside of which is comprised entirely of early, primarily turkey red, bandanas.
If you know anything about early bandanas, you know how valuable they are.
A remarkable work of Americana make-do art, the front is also stunning with its vast array of early calicos in a largely sampler block pieced format.
This quilt is a true collectors piece. One that deserves to be hung and showcased as the work of art that it is.
A hard one for us to let go of, however it is an honor to document it and have it with us for a season before finding its next home.

How it’s made: Hand pieced and hand tied
Weight: Medium
Measurements laid flat: 71” x 62”
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

Somel seam separations throughout. Areas of thinning fabric, exposing the batting. Areas of discoloration throughout. Overall very sturdy and beautiful and an incredible collectors piece!
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.

Thank you for understanding!
