A beautiful 1860s-1880s quilt in the ever satisfying Robbing Peter to Pay Paul quilt with a striking diamond border! Seemingly, this quilt was unused and simply stored away for decades. Once a purple calico print, exhibiting some fugitive coloring. Now faded to more brown tones. The binding is the same print but is a stronger color. Wonderful thin batting. Original owner found in Ohio years ago.
It comes with provenance— There is a note attached "James Ingram Woods." We don't know if it was made for him / owned by him, etc. But certainly it is a clue to be researched.

C O N D I T I O N
Overall slight discoloration from storage. It has a spot, likely the quilter pricked her finger during quilting!
A few areas where the purple binding has bled onto other pieces ever so slightly. Overall very sturdy and beautiful.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
