1880s Mennonite Double T Temperance Quilt
An example of how women would use their sewing skills to express their political opinions, the Temperance T Block pattern is one with a fascinating social history.
A cotton tag with history of the quilt has been lightly sewn onto the gorgeous bars backing, and can be removed if desired to display that side.
In absolutely stunning and vibrant turkey red and cheddar cotton, the back of this quilt is equal in beauty to the front. A true collectors piece.
Made in Lehigh County Pennsylvania, from The Pilgrim/Roy Collection.
D E T A I L S
How it’s made: hand pieced, hand quilted
Weight: light
Measurements laid flat: 72” x 82”
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!
C O N D I T I O N
Pristine condition. No apparent damages or repairs.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.
⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.
