1880s Log Cabin Quilt

A lovely mixture of earthy and warm tones that evoke a subtle feeling of spring and rebirth. This quilt also features a very soft, plaid flannel whole cloth back in a light robin’s egg blue.
The center of the log cabin square is traditionally meant to represent the hearth, around which loved ones gather and life is in continual motion. Hence the beautiful orange and red centers of many of these beautifully pieced blocks.

Overall in decent condition for the age of this piece. A rod sleeve on the back was added at some point for ease of displaying on a wall and can be removed if so desired. Even edges, fraying to some of the piecing and a few seams here and there are coming undone. No holes that go all the way through. Fading and small discoloration spots to areas of the back.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
