1880s Chestnut Burr Quilt
A unique quilt in the way that it in fact is not quilted at all but only hand pieced together. An absolutely jaw dropping collection of calicos neutral tones. The placement of the repeating red center patches paired with the rippling outwards effect of the piecework gives this quilt a true radiant quality.

How it’s made: hand pieced
Weight: very light
Measurements laid flat: 66” x 67”

C O N D I T I O N
This quilt might be best suited for display use only or very mindful use on a bed. For its age, it’s in quite decent condition. A handful of missing piecework throughout and some faint spots of discoloration on the front and back. One darker, what appears to be ink, spot on the back along with a hanging sleeve that isn’t original to the quilt. No holes or tears that go all the way through.
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
