1880s Mexican Rose Appliqué Quilt

This 1880s quilt is in museum quality condition. These colors are truly captivating with their incredible and rich vibrancy. The cheddar especially is remarkable.
To say we have found very few quilts like this is an understatement.
A once in a lifetime piece that will be the crown jewel to any collection.

D E T A I L S

Hand quilted and hand appliquéd

Cotton seeds in the batting indicate its early age

Weight: a light to medium weight quilt

78” x 78”

C O N D I T I O N
Very slight wear to some of the pink cotton which is to be expected of the age of this quilt. There are a couple of spots where the appliqué stitching has come undone which is due to age not wear. One or two small spots of discoloration here and there which almost go unnoticed.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project my friends. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
