1870s Grandmother's Engagement Ring Quilt
This incredible quilt is one of the crown jewels of this months collection. An eye catching pattern we have never before come across, though it is quite close to an 1850s Lady Finger quilt we had some months ago, it certainly a true collectors piece.
Displays beautifully on a bed but would also be incredible on a wall.
Vibrant turkey red and cheddar cotton piecework coupled with a vegetable dyed neutral cotton that was once green. Original binding in tact. Stunning hand quilting throughout with up to 20 stitches per inch.
This pattern is a slight variation but a fairly true representation of the Grandmothers Engagement Ring pattern. It is also similar to Whigs Defeat, Fanny’s Favorite, The Lady Finger, and Democrats Fancy.

C O N D I T I O N
A handful of small spots of faint discoloration, slight uneven edges and one hole, smaller than a dime, that does not go all the way through. Otherwise in pristine condition!
Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
