1915 Newspaper Quilt Top

$175.00
sold out

Newspapers were often used to pattern out quilt tops and the fabric was often sewn directly onto the newspaper to ensure following the pattern exactly.

The idea was to then wash the quilt top and the newspaper would dissolve/come away from the quilt top and then it would be ready to quilt!

It’s rare, but you can still find quilt tops that still have newspaper pattern backing. We think this one would be extra special to display as a work of art.

This quilt top was presumably made sometime around 1915 due to the fabric we were able to date and the date on the newspaper.

D E T A I L S

How it’s made: hand stitched

Weight: unfinished quilt topper, very light weight

C O N D I T I O N
Unfinished quilt top that has fairly delicate newspaper backing.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.

We want you to love your vintage finds, so please look through the photos and read the listing description carefully and feel free to ask any and all questions before purchasing, as we do not accept returns.

Thank you for understanding!
