1850s Mariner's Star Quilt

From Pennsylvania, this pattern is a personal favorite of ours that we don’t find often.
Raspberry calico that has loss due to the mordant in the darker dye used to print it, but is nonetheless stunning as an overall piece. Certainly uncommon to find a quilt of this age in such beautiful and usable shape!

Surface dirt, discoloration and some spotting throughout, fabric losses throughout red cotton piece work due to dye process used at the time, one hole on front that does not go through backing, one patched hole on back near edge.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.
