1850s Baltimore Album Signed Appliqué Quilt

$1,800.00
sold out

One of the absolutely most stunning and show stopping quilts we’ve ever had, the intricate stitches and remarkable pictorial piecework in this quilt are truly not done justice in our photos. A one of a kind work of art and piece of history if there ever was one.

Made up of 25 appliquéd blocks, 14.5” x 14.5”, set straight, 5 by 5, with an 8.5” scalloped edge off white border with appliquéd green leaves. The name
Sarah A Pattison is hand inked in the center block with the lyre. And JT Caulk is hand embroidered in petit point in another block with a Bible. There are 2 other blocks with petit point initials. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. This quilt uses very typical Baltimore album style blocks including the Eagle with Bunting, the Lyre, baskets of flowers, and more. Interesting to note is the Odd Fellows block.

D E T A I L S

How it’s made: Hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted

Weight: Light to medium

Measurements laid flat: 98 x 101 inches

Shown on a standard Full size bed.
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

C O N D I T I O N
In fair condition with overall toning, spots, fabric deterioration, and evidence of conservation.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.

We want you to love your vintage finds, so please look through the photos and read the listing description carefully and feel free to ask any and all questions before purchasing, as we do not accept returns.

Thank you for understanding!
