1825 Caesars Crown Chintz Quilt

$800.00

This is one of the earliest quilts we have had the honor of having pass through our hands, and for its age, it is in incredible condition! The chintz fabric in this one is so special.
Comprised of 36 blocks, 13 by 13 inches, set straight, 6 by 6, with 18 pieced Caesar's Crown blocks and 18 alternating solid off white squares. There is a 6.5 inch striped floral chintz border. There is thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back, and applied by hand. The quilted feathered wreaths in the alternating squares are stuffed work or Trapunto.

The quilt was believed to have been made at the York Girls School in York PA.

D E T A I L S

How it’s made: hand pieced and hand quilted

Weight: Medium

Measurements laid flat: 92 x 95 inches

Shown on a standard Full size bed.
If you’d like to hang your quilt, we recommend our locally made Folkling Quilt Clips!

C O N D I T I O N
The chintz fabric has deterioration throughout, the back has a large bleached area, and there is a small repair on the front. In truly remarkable condition over all for its age and would suit a bed with considerate use.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.

—☽☼— All sales are final —☼☽—

We want you to love your vintage finds, so please look through the photos and read the listing description carefully and feel free to ask any and all questions before purchasing, as we do not accept returns.

Thank you for understanding!
