1880s Broken Wheel Signature Quilt

$450.00
sold out

Circa the 1880s-1890s, this is a truly visually stunning quilt made up of rose and deep purple, almost black, calico fabrics with signed ink inscription blocks on the softest white cotton.

This quilt has many prominent family names that tie it to Neé England, specifically Weymouth and Plymouth, including Tirrell, Dyer, Lord, and Paine.
Stella T. Tirrell is likely the same for whom a park and playground are named after in Weymouth.

Signature quilts such as this one served as a precious remembrance for family and friends, sometimes to mark the occasion of a marriage or when a friend moved away.

D E T A I L S

How it’s made: machine pieced and hand quilted

Weight: light

Measurements laid flat: 80” x 83”

Shown on a standard Full size bed.

C O N D I T I O N
Almost flawless condition save for a handful of discoloration spots and one or two small holes that do not go all the way through.

Most importantly: Please do not cut this quilt for a coat or other project. It is too beautiful and in gorgeous condition and a work of art in and of itself. It would be tragic to cut up such a beautiful piece of textile history.

⋒ This is an antique piece, all photos have been taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect its condition. Please keep in mind all antique pieces have little imperfections and reflect the story and charm of the piece.

⋒ This find will ship to you within one week of purchasing. International and combined shipping is available, please contact us via instagram DM at @Folkling for a personalized shipping quote.

We want you to love your vintage finds, so please look through the photos and read the listing description carefully and feel free to ask any and all questions before purchasing, as we do not accept returns.

Thank you for understanding!
