The Future Is Vintage

We feel that society has turned a corner. Old and worn is being embraced as beautiful, of value, and significant. The history of a well-made garment that is worn-well is preferred over a garment of questionable quality made by questionable means.

That is all of course a huge part of our ethos here at Folkling.

The future is vintage.

These were printed with the help of our friends Karl and Jody at Black Bird Supply in Richmond, VA. Each is one-of-a-kind and printed on a vintage t-shirt.

As such they have various signs of wear, which tell of their age and adventures they have lived through thus far.

But in essence, this project is to help prolong each ones life as a useful and loved garment.

Karl and Jody have so much heart and integrity behind what they do at Blackbird Supply. Having them be a part of this project meant so much for that reason but also because they have been here since the beginning.
Their friendship across the years has been an encouragement through many a creative pursuit.

Over many a taco, many a night hanging out on their couch, many a birthday party, many a voice message across the miles (and one swimming aerobics class)— they have always engaged in sussing out the meaning of what it is to live a creative life and what it is to live well and pursue good things.

They’re about as true blue as it gets.

In essence: It just feels really good to make good things with good people.

We plan on continuing this project, as we find various flawed vintage tshirts, and releasing new batches every so often.
So be sure to check back in every so often to see the latest batch in the shop!
