In The Name of Love | A Valentine Collection

I have to confess, this collection was supposed to be larger…
There has been a stack of red and white quilts sitting on the bench in my hallway for months waiting very patiently for this Valentines Day moment.
But then, when I finally started unfolding them… I realized I’d started to get attached to quite a few
Objectively, the ones here in the shop for you tonight are still the best of them… the others are a little more common in pattern and not as rare or intricate or ornate. And yet I just sort of got used to seeing half of them around and can’t quite seem to part with them.

So back into the quilt stack they go.
For now.

(Although to be completely transparent there are at this point several stacks around my house…)

Interestingly, since the start of 2021 I have been very drawn to red. This is very unlike me as I am normally neutral/blue toned aesthetically inclined. But 2021 hit the calendar and bam I loved red. Especially red in quilts. Someone mentioned that red is a power color and as 2021 marked the first full year of the Folkling brick & mortar, maybe it had something to do with that energy (if you believe in that sort of thing). Nevertheless, here we are, one year later, and I am still very infatuated with red.

In addition to some extra special red quilts though, we have some rose hued stunners.

Namely some exceptionally remarkable twin quilts that are both dated and signed 1881 and 1882 and in near mint condition.
I talk about the rarity of such an occurrence in this instagram post if you want to read more about them.
They are, in a few words, once in a lifetime finds.
I have been hanging onto them for over a year, and it feels bittersweet to contemplate letting them go. They are priced accordingly due to their rarity and as such it may still be a bit before they find their new home, but they truly deserve to be in a place where they will be used and cherished vs. sitting in a stack in the shop inventory.

I hope you enjoy this collection, it is a very near and dear one to my heart.

xoxo
Leney
