Folkling Field Trip | Ironside Cabin

— Folkling Field Trip is a series of storied places brought to you by our adventures out on The Road —

Nestled in the woods on seventeen acres in Tennessee is a tiny cabin on a river.
This cabin was the dream of Caitlin and Jason of Ironside Studio. Built with wood from the land, the cabin is nothing short of a dreamy getaway.
Caitlin, dressed in vintage overalls and an Edwardian top, greeted us upon our arrival and showed us around the property. We hadn’t seen any photos of the place, and while our expectations were already high from Caitlins description of it over the phone, they were far exceeded seeing everything in person.

The weekend was filled with slow mornings, good home cooked meals, warm fires and walks in the woods. The things, truth be told, that we are always trying to incorporate more of into our day to day but somehow don’t always make it. However, it’s always nice to get away and get a reframe as far as these priorities and perspectives go.

The property is also a short drive from Rock Island State Park, which is a stunning place to explore to say the least. We were here in the fall and thought it was gorgeous, but can only imagine what the spring and summer months are like…
Needless to say, we haven’t stopped talking about the entire stay since we came home.

It is nice to be reminded of what your dreams are.

For us, like many of you, it is to work towards a simpler way of life.
A slower way of life.
A life that allows for more time outdoors and less time on screens.
A life that involves community and commitment and working with our hands and our hearts.
It is for this reason that it is so very nice to be invited into someone else’s dream from time to time.
Because in a roundabout way—it reminds us of our own.

The Ironside cabin is currently closed for the season, but be sure to check it out here and save it to your Airbnb wishlist for next year…
You can also follow Ironside Studio on Instagram and on their website.
